The complainant said that by using phrases such as ‘Our support is for life whenever you served’ on its website and in other fundraising communications, SSAFA is misleading donors. They told us that they are aware of a number of veterans that the charity have not assisted for life.
The complainant raised their complaint with the charity, which told them that it judges what action it can take in accordance with its objectives and values, and provides lifelong support to those who need it in partnership with other organisations. The complainant remained dissatisfied with the charity’s response so brought the complaint to us.
Our investigation found that the charity’s wording and other information on its website did not suggest that it provides financial and housing assistance for every veteran, and that the charity were not fundraising on this basis. Therefore, we found that the charity's wording was not misleading.
We reviewed the correspondence between the charity and the complainant and found that the charity had responded appropriately to the complaint.
There are no actions for the charity.
