Rebuilding public trust in fundraising
A cross-party review into the self-regulation of charity fundraising took place in Summer 2015. The review took evidence from key stakeholders in order to identify what changes are required to rebuild public trust in fundraising by charities.
A key frustration identified by members of the public was a lack of control over the nature and frequency of fundraising approaches. The review identified a need for a service to help individuals manage their communications with charities more easily.
A working group was set up in December 2015 to discuss and develop the details of the service, followed by a consultation in Autumn 2016.
The new system has been designed to help people easily manage the communications they receive from charities.
