Fit for the future - introducing the new Code of Fundraising Practice
Suzanne McCarthy, Chair of our Standards Committee, explains some of the changes in the new code and how it will provide public protection, accountability and excellence in fundraising – now and into the future.
Implementation period
A structured transition period (May to November 2025) will help fundraising organisations implement the new code. If you have any questions or need further support, please reach out to us at code@fundraisingregulator.org.uk.
A digital version of the new code will replace the current version on the Fundraising Regulator website from November.
Code review 2022-25
Between October 2022 and November 2024 we carried out a process of reviewing and updating the Code of Fundraising Practice:
Phase one (2022-23): This included an eight-week public call for information
Phase two (2023): This included a 12-week public consultation to gather feedback on our proposals for change
Phase three (2024): This included an eight-week stakeholder engagement exercise on a draft version of the new code
Throughout the process we ensured that the code review was based on evidence and considered the views of those who have an interest in the outcome.
Our consultation report provides an overview of the feedback we received throughout the process and how we used this to inform our decision making.
